Neonatal nurses representing neonatal nursing and employed by for-profit industry may be considered for volunteer service in the organization with the following policies established to guide their service and limit industry involvement and influence. Who qualifies as a volunteer employed in industry?
Neonatal nurses representing neonatal nursing and employed by for-profit industry.
Eligibility & Term Length
Only one industry-employed volunteer can serve on the NANN Board of Directors or NANN-AP Council at a time. Only one industry-employed volunteer may serve on a committee or task force at a time. An industry-employed volunteer can only serve for one two-year, non-renewable term.
Requirements
If selected for volunteer service, neonatal nurses representing neonatal nursing and employed by for-profit industry have the following requirements in addition to policies for the specific role to which they were elected/selected:
- Must sign all standard NANN volunteer agreements, including but not limited to:
- Conflict of interest
- Commitment to serve
- Must sign a non-disclosure affidavit (NDA).
- Must recuse themselves from volunteer conversations on topics of conflicting interest.
Restrictions
If selected for volunteer service, neonatal nurses representing neonatal nursing and employed by for-profit industry have the following restrictions in addition to policies for the specific role to which they were elected/selected:
- May serve as a member, but not in a chair role of a committee or task force.
- May not serve as a Special Interest Group (SIG) facilitator.
- May serve as a Director-at-Large, Staff Nurse Director-at-Large, or NANN-AP Council Member-at-Large but not as President-Elect, President, Secretary/Treasurer, NANN-AP Council Chair-Elect, or NANNN-AP Council Chair. Note that as a Director-at-Large, Staff Nurse Director-at-Large, or NANN-AP Council Member-at-Large, an industry-employed volunteer is limited to one two-year, nonrenewable term.
- May not serve on the Executive Committee.
- Must not work in an industry considered to be in direct competition with the association by the Board of Directors.
