Description:

What does the NANN Nominations Committee do?

The NANN Nominations Committee is charged with identifying and slating candidates for the NANN Board of Directors each year. The committee actively vets, reviews, interviews, and ultimately slates candidates for the NANN membership to vote on.

What kind of volunteer is NANN looking for?

  • Must be a NANN member, staff nurse preferred
  • Basic understanding of the mission and vision of NANN
  • It can be useful if committee members have NANN committee or leadership experience
  • Willing to spread the word to your network about open positions
  • Ability to meet deadlines and attend required virtual meetings and interviews
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Committed to diversifying the organization's leadership

A SIG facilitator, committee chair, or member shall not serve in any other volunteer role at the same time unless it is an appointment by virtue of the position held. If currently serving in a volunteer role, a member must complete the term of service prior to serving on the Board or Council. Service on a task force may be made upon approval by the designated leadership body – either the NANN Board of Directors or NANN-AP Council.

Term

One two-year term.

Qualifications

The NANN Nominations Committee members and chair must be currently practicing in neonatal nursing in a role such as clinical care, education, research, administration, industry, or consulting. At its discretion, NANN’s Board of Directors may make exceptions to this requirement.

Responsibilities

A.   Encourage members to participate in the nominations and election process.

B.   Participate in review of potential candidates and selection of nominees.

C.   Participate in exit interviews of outgoing Board members as assigned.

What is the time commitment?

NANN's Call for Nominations generally opens around the beginning of February and closes mid-April. During this time, we ask the committee to support the call by spreading the word. The primary bulk of the work for the committee takes place mid-April to mid-June and is dedicated to the review of applications, interviewing selected candidates, and finalizing the slate for membership vote. We estimate anywhere from 10-20 hours of work total.
