Description:

What does the Annual Conference Committee (ACC) do?
The ACC represents NANN's values and members’ needs in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the education portion of NANN's Annual Conference.

What kind of volunteer is NANN looking for?

  • Must be a NANN member
  • Experience in planning educational programs is preferred
  • Detail-orientated
  • Collaborative
  • Understanding of the educational needs and wants of the members

A SIG facilitator, committee chair, or member shall not serve in any other volunteer role at the same time unless it is an appointment by virtue of the position held. If currently serving in a volunteer role, a member must complete the term of service prior to serving on the Board or Council. Service on a task force may be made upon approval by the designated leadership body – either the NANN Board of Directors or NANN-AP Council.

Term

Two years with an option to renew for an additional two-year term.

Qualifications

Members of the ACC must be currently practicing in neonatal nursing care in a role such as clinical care, education, research, administration, eligible industry partners, or consulting. At its discretion, the NANN Board of Directors may make exceptions to this requirement.

Responsibilities

A.   Conducting an ongoing evaluation of the Annual Conference to determine effectiveness or need for adjustment

B.   Reviewing conference feedback and available gap analysis data to determine topics for future programs

C.   Reviewing abstract submissions

D.   Selecting and organizing a range of conference topics relevant to the needs of neonatal nursing, including those in expanded roles

E.   Initiating contact with speakers and providing staff with speaker contact information

F.   Assisting with conference activities as needed, such as monitoring sessions and assisting speakers

What is the time commitment?
While serving on the ACC, conference attendance is required each fall. As a committee, the ACC meets throughout the year with one all-day virtual planning meeting in the spring and 5-6 additional virtual committee meetings. Committee members also review conference abstracts in January and February, which can be a time commitment of about 8-10 hours. If selected to serve on the ACC, you will receive an Annual Conference registration discount of $100 for the duration of your term.
