NANN is excited to announce the revision of the 2019 Policies, Procedures, and Competencies (6th edition) and is seeking multiple contributors to participate.
Policies, procedures, and competencies form the foundation of patient care, guiding nursing practice. The Sixth Edition of Policies, Procedures, and Competencies for Neonatal Nursing Care supports an organization’s commitment to evidence-based nursing by equipping neonatal nurses and nurse practitioners with the tools needed to deliver the highest quality care to vulnerable patients. The current (6th) edition, published in 2019, includes 24 policies, 28 procedures, and 30 competencies in a 300-page publication. This comprehensive resource consolidates the most current evidence and best-practice protocols in neonatal nursing, serving as a vital reference for developing, revising, or refining unit-specific policies, procedures, and competencies. It includes customizable language to align with institutional policies and local or state regulations. It discusses competencies on Neonatal Withdrawal and aEEG Monitoring, along with a policy on Donor Milk Use. Additionally, the product includes a digital download of the book, enhancing accessibility and usability for healthcare professionals.
Contributors are considered subject-matter experts (SMEs). They will be responsible for the creation and review of accurate and up-to-date content, ensuring that the information reflects the latest evidence-based practices, guidelines, and the highest standards of neonatal care. They will:
- Conduct literature reviews.
- Update references.
- Edit and add new material.
- Grade the quality of evidence.
Contributors are expected to collaborate with editors and project managers on content, communicate efficiently, and ensure that the content promotes a multidisciplinary approach. Contributors are also expected to meet assigned deadlines. The position requires a consistent internet connection to support virtual meetings and live collaboration on digital files (e.g., Microsoft Teams).
