Infant-Directed Oral Feeding for Premature and Critically Ill Hospitalized Infants Guideline: Call for Editors and Contributors/Reviewers
NANN is excited to announce the revision of the 2013 Infant-Directed Oral Feeding for Premature and Critically Ill Hospitalized Infants Guideline with support by Dr. Brown’s Company through an unrestricted medical education grant. This guideline currently offers evidence-based protocols that can be individualized to an infant’s abilities (infant-directed) and acknowledge the family as the primary caregiver and feeder (family-centered). Guidance is provided for nurses to help parents interpret infant cues during feeding, problem solve infant behavior issues, and explore interventions to support the infant’s self-regulation throughout feedings. Based heavily on the literature, this guideline offers a consistent approach and language for all caregivers, including family members, in the pursuit of optimal oral feeding outcomes.
NANN is seeking subject matter experts (SMEs) who have comprehensive knowledge in the continuum of feeding strategies, including but not limited to pre-feeding and the advancement of oral feedings, for all premature and critically ill hospitalized newborns, regardless of their specific disease or comorbidities. As a SME, you will contribute to the creation and revision of accurate and up to date content and ensure that the information reflects the latest evidence-based practices, guidelines, and standards of neonatal care.
If you are looking for the opportunity to accelerate your professional development this might be a great prospect for you to volunteer with NANN.
