Oxygen therapy for wound care (diaper area)

By Kathleen Rast posted 04-27-2013 03:33 PM

Does anyone use oxygen therapy for wounds, especially bad diaper rash? We see many NAS infants with terrible rash from frequent loose stools and use O2 to dry and aid in healing. How do use administer the O2 to the site? Are there any products that are designed specifically for this administration?

Historically in our unit we have used this- currently we don't based on evidence for its use. 3M has an amazing product called cavilon- it is awesome- provides a breathable protective coating- you can get a free trial on their website. It works great!!!! Safe for babies- it is also great around stomas/gtubes...
