We currently have a standing order for cares every 2-4 hours, and typically our feedings are every three hours. So, our 24-28 week babies on trophic feeds are handled every 3 hours, and if they are NPO they are handled every 4 hours
We have had an issue with the bifurcated feeding side port collecting over time with formula or breast milk even with judicial flushing after access. We are proposing to go to a non bifurcated tube and have the bifurcation on the extension tubing, yet some staff are preferring to stay with the bifurcated feeding tube. Can i ask how many use a bifurcated feeding tube and rationale to keep it?

Could anyone answer the following questions: Do you allow anyone other the parent to hold and feed the baby? Do you limit the number of vistors that a parent can agree to bring in for the entire length og their stay?
The best rule when it comes to infant skin products: If you could not feed the substance to a baby (not that you WOULD feed it to a baby) don't put it on their very thin skin!
