We have had an issue with the bifurcated feeding side port collecting over time with formula or breast milk even with judicial flushing after access. We are proposing to go to a non bifurcated tube and have the bifurcation on the extension tubing, yet some staff are preferring to stay with the bifurcated feeding tube. Can i ask how many use a bifurcated feeding tube and rationale to keep it?

We are looking and new VAP bundles and reduction practices and I was wondering how often do you change out your suction cannisters and tubing? any information would be helpful
5 Comments - our VAP prevention Bundle starts with meticulous hand hygiene oral care-oral care kits or sterile water, we replace our neosuckers atleast q24hrs we have separate suction canisters for ETT and oral suctions and we replace all canisters and tubing every M,W,F and PRN Ambu bags are changed every Friday for ventilated infants

3 Comments - The med line is "Y'd" into the second port tubing. Our IV tubing (even tubing infusing TPN) is changed every 72 hours. Exceptions include interlipids, med tubing, any tubing with visible blood, and when the tubing has been disconnected for any reason
