When changing your central lines, if you have lipids Y'd into your TPN are you changing your lipid lines every 24 hours down to the Y, and then changing the Y with the TPN lines every 72 hours? We been struggling with the thought that everthing with lipids running in it should be changed every 24 hours, but don't want to change all lines that frequently
3 Comments - Anything above the needleless access device is changed every 24 hours if TPN/IL or every 72 hours if it is crystilloids

Does anyone use a double lumen UVC? If so, how do you maintain it (flush, how often etc,) Any special nursing considerations? Thank you, Margaret McDonnell
3 Comments - The med line is "Y'd" into the second port tubing. Our IV tubing (even tubing infusing TPN) is changed every 72 hours. Exceptions include interlipids, med tubing, any tubing with visible blood, and when the tubing has been disconnected for any reason
Hi, All :) Does anyone have experience with your neonatologists using multiple calculation weights for TPN, intralipids, total fluid, continuous drips (pressors, sedation, etc.) on the same patient?
We are proposing to go to a non bifurcated tube and have the bifurcation on the extension tubing, yet some staff are preferring to stay with the bifurcated feeding tube
Because the RNs do not have a protocol for managing the epidural (operating the pump or changing out the medication bags etc), the anesthesiologist changes out the bags and changes the bags

Does anyone have a reliable and valid research tool to recommend that assists with measuring RN job satisfaction before and after moving to a single private room NICU model?
1 Comment - We are likely going to a single room unit soon and I would love to have a little study surrounding the change! Thanks. Nikki
Good Afternoon, I am interested in how your facilities staff for PICC line procedures: insertions, dressing changes, trouble shooting, removals etc
And at what corrected gestational age (>44 weeks CGA?) would you change the pain scale?
